A safe brief for the electrician's phone.

By Eric Berg 路 Last updated August 2026

The useful job is narrow: answer as the approved business, collect what the caller reports, and hand the owner a clean record. An electrical employee should never play electrician. Diagnosis, safety advice, urgency decisions, and promises stay outside the role.

Where the phone work piles up

  • On the tools. An electrician working in a panel cannot safely become the receptionist at the same moment.
  • The nervous caller. Flickering lights and a warm outlet require calm intake and a safe handoff, not improvised electrical advice.
  • Quote follow-ups. Acceptance, changes, and status questions can arrive while the electrician is on another job.

What belongs in the brief

Teach the company name, hours, service area, services, and the intake questions the owner uses. Add explicit hard lines: no electrical advice, no diagnosis, no claim that a property is safe, and no appointment promise without owner confirmation. The finished call can become a private summary with the caller's request and next step. See the exact product loop.

What it costs

Keeping a front-desk employee after the card-free audition is CA$149 per month, cancel anytime. The same number, approved brief, and everything taught by text stay with the employee.

Fair questions

Will the employee give electrical advice?

No. The employee records what the caller says and leaves diagnosis, safety advice, and technical instructions to a qualified person.

Can the employee prioritize urgent calls?

It can apply explicit owner-written escalation rules to the caller's words. It should not independently determine that a situation is safe, urgent, or an emergency.

How fast can I go live?

After the recruiter call, you receive a brief to read and correct. You verify the mobile, authorize a limited card-free audition, and wait for the employee's real number. Timing varies; nothing goes live before authorization.

Tell Whoever about the shop, the dropped work, and the hard line. Read the brief before anything is built.
